Throughout our careers as a duo we have had the privilege of composing for and performing with some of the great orchestras of the world! Each experience has been an overwhelmingly joyous experience but perhaps performing alongside pianist Boris Berezovsky with the Russian Philarmonic in Moscow has to rank among one of the best experiences of our careers. 

Equally, the creation of our larger scale symphonic work Ve Skerries and its exhilarating performance by Scotland’s Grit Orchestra still resonates inside us as if it were yesterday. 

The colours and energy available when writing for such incredible forces is truly awe inspiring.

Because we are so firmly attached to the composition and orchestration of these pieces then our music can live, breathe and and grow as we grow. It will never stand still as long as we are standing! 

Having both experienced just what it’s like to sit in an orchestra and perform some of the great classical works by past composers we have gone full circle and found ourselves performing our own music as soloists often alongside amazing musicians who we studied with over 20 years ago. We have all taken different paths in music but our compositions have led to renewed friendships with wonderful musicians in Glasgow. 

It seems such a contrast to the intimacy of composing and performing as a duo but the heart of all this ‘big-scale’ music beats about communication, emotion and above all honesty.
